Becca’s “Maui Nights”…a bronzer I think I’ll probably miss forever.

If you still think about the makeup brand Becca Cosmetics, you are not alone. It has been years since the brand shut down, but many makeup lovers still miss their amazing products. Their highlighters were famous, but the Becca Maui Nights Sunlit Bronzer was a true favorite of mine! It gave my skin a beautiful, warm copper glow with a soft satin finish, like I spent the whole day at Keawakapu Beach (near my once upon a time Maui home).

Sure I lived on Maui and that’s probably why this bronzer initially caught my eye while browsing in the one and only Ulta store on the island!!! But, it soon became my most favorite item in my make-up collection and still is today. I, like many people out in there in the “Powder-verse”, used this iconic deep, warm shade as not only a a bronzer, but a blush and even an eyeshadow! It was truly a remarkably beautiful and versatile product and a must have for that “no make-up, make-up look”!

Sadly, this is what my one and only Maui Nights looks like today. It broke during my trek across the Pacific Ocean to my new Sunny California home.

Despite it’s broken appearance, I plan to use her until no grain of this luminescent powder remains. Indeed, I will protect her with my life….or at least by never carrying her anywhere in a purse or make-up bag. I would never travel with her! Never casually pick her up for fear of dropping her because, God forbid, if she fell and opened up, spilling her contents all over the floor. I can honestly say I might either cry out, or use the 5 second rule and scoop her back up! But, since you can no longer get the real thing, out of necessity, I started to look for the best alternatives I can find.

The Multi-Use Alternative From Fenty Beauty

Again, Becca Maui Nights was loved because it worked well as both a bronzer and a blush. If you miss that multi-use magic, try Fenty Beauty. The Fenty Beauty Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter Duo in Ginger Binge/Moscow Mule is a great pick.

  • The Color: The copper and rose-gold tones match the warm depth of Maui Nights.
  • The Finish: It has a shimmery, satin glow that brings life back to your cheeks.
  • The Use: You can sweep it across your cheeks or use it on your eyes.

The Best Budget Swap: Wet n Wild

You do not need to spend a lot of money to get that warm copper look. There are great options at the drugstore.

How to Choose Your New Shade

So, if these high-low dupes don’t suffice, when you look for a replacement, remember what made Maui Nights special for you. Look for words like copper, warm bronze, and satin finish. Avoid completely matte powders if you miss the signature Becca glow. Losing a favorite beauty product is hard, but these modern options will help you recreate that beautiful summer warmth Maui Nights.

Happy Dupe hunting!
