What's in my Pippi Bag? Pippi Longstocking book, stuffed monkey, tin, notebook labeled Adventures & Dreams, sock, keys, wallet, lip balm, brush, sanitizer, and snacks

So, anywhoo….I am a longtime bag lady. My obsession with purses and totes began as a little kid and is only matched by my other obsessions (make-up, books, pens and paper.) When I heard about the viral concept of a”Pippi Bag”, I was like – “Sign me up!” Inspired by the ultimate free-spirited adventurer, Pippi Longstocking, a Pippi Bag is a light tote meant for carrying all of life’s daily necessities and whimsical extras.

Since I have as a 2027 goal to finally get really, really good at keeping a journal and learning to knit, having a designated Pippi Bag seems like a good idea to me!

Here’s what’s will be in mine!

The Creative Corner

A true Pippi Bag needs space for artistic inspiration. I have no desire to leave the house without my assortment of inspirational items, even if I’m too busy to get to it! There’s just something about having these items close by that bring me joy. But I know, even 5 minutes a day of creativity is great for anyone’s mental health:

Open journal marked Alps and October 14, 2023, beside coffee
  • Large Art Journal & Traveler’s Notebook: For sketching layout ideas, journaling thoughts, or drafting next week’s blog posts. https://link.amazon/B0a1CQHyV

A vibrant colored-pencil set brings a floral coloring page to life beside a sunlit window. (I don’t take all of these, just a handful.)

A colorful Ohuhu marker collection sits beside an open tropical garden coloring book, ready for creative work. (Again, I throw just a random 4 or 5 of these into my pencil case.). Here’s the links –

Oh…and, of course, knitting (balm for any trouble souls out there.)

My Current Read:

Book cover of 'Crimes Against a Book Club' by Kathy Cooperman, featuring an illustration of a woman with red hair wearing sunglasses, holding a turquoise book.

I am currently flying through this novel. If you love book clubs and the drama that happens between posh elites and one brainiac Mom with a few extra pounds, it is an absolutely outstanding and worthwhile addition to your tote’s space.

Those little everyday essentials….

Then there is the practical side. The small pouches and pockets are filled with everyday essentials that save the day on a regular basis:

Earth Rated box of large unscented dog poop bag refill rolls
Earth Rated’s large unscented refill pack contains 270 leak-proof dog waste bags.

…and snacks (which change from day to day). You choose whatever fuel strikes your fancy!

Nuts….granola bars…water bottle are my must-haves.

AND FINALLY – An Opportunity to Connect with People from around the World (via that old-fashioned and much-loved past-time – – – LETTER WRITING!!!!)

I signed the pledge to write one letter every Sunday to a stranger around the world and nominated two stationary stores in San Diego to sponsor our area’s letter writing lovers. (You need a local store that collects the envelops and hands them out, since this is a no address exchange). I’m hoping to hear from them soon & that they agree to sponsor writers in my area.

To see if your area has a stationary store participating and to sign up, go to, where there’s also a link to sign up:

If you are feeling inspired and have decided to join me on this Pippi Bag World Journey, here’s hoping you have as much fun with it, as I did!
