Exploring the world of the beauty box subscriptions is good for my head. Whenever a box like Allure’s sold out June Beauty Box arrive, I feel the excitement of a little child on Christmas Day. Whether it is a $15/month box like Allure (first box=$10), or more pricey boxes, subscription boxes are a great way to get your mojo back.
This month’s Allure Box is a beautiful curated collection by Kat Von D. It has a whimsically evil look in appearance, which to be honest, probably made me think her collection just wasn’t for a tattoo-less Sassy Pants Fifty-Something. But, I have to say, her products excel, by any measure. The Tattoo Liner is a “2017 Allure Beauty Award Winner” (waterproof, precise wand, long-wearing.) The Lip Liner and Mini Lipstick, have a dark red earth appearance, but appear less shocking, when applied, appropriate for any Mama going through her day, with a little added zing of color, that is not too shocking, but ultimately more interesting then the umpteen nudes in my lipstick organizer drawer. Their application is smooth and effortless, long-wearing and moisturizing. I know because of this, I will be exploring the world of Kat Von D Makeup for sure! Oh yes…and the mirror. I thought this little mirror’s homage to a vintage Candle Wax Stamp look was charming.
So, then there is big lonely Ole Henriksen’s Transformative Walnut Scrub thrown into the mix, though I’m not sure why. But, to see a full-size of this pricey scrub, which retails for $28 at Sephora, was a very pleasant surprise. It is an amazingly effective scrub, which I fell in love with in the past year, as it was included in a gift assortment of Henriksen products I picked up at Sephora at Christmas and recently ran out of—score! Thank you Beauty Gods! I got what I wanted! As an exfoliation lover, I know I will be using this one every day to facilitate the removal of dead skin daily, to reveal a healthier glow, a necessary duty of any anti-aging lover.
While this box is sold out, it is a great choice for a future subscription box for any Sassy Pants gal needing a little mojo reboot. Get it, cause you deserve it! I know I do!
