Makeup on the Go: My TikTok Finds

Is Tik Tok Satan’s Spawn?

This purchase is just one more example that, yes, Tik Tok just might be Satan’s spawn. I do have issues impulse buying make-up. The lavendar packaging and portability were speaking my language and so I had to say in response, “yes, yes, yes please!”

What I loved?

Is she Chanel, or Dior, Charlotte Tilbury or any of the other high-end, totally worth-it make-up crowding up my bedroom? Absolutely not. However, since I love to keep make-up in the car, or have the perfect pared down make-up bag for my travels, than, yes, these stacks have a place in my life! Is she the love of my life? Well, no. But, for me, I find her to be a totally decent quickie?

The winners:

The eye shadows are earthy, fairly decent neutral-ish colors, though a bit flakey, maybe requiring an eyelid primer. But I think if it floats around a suitcase of purse, I think it might deteriorate and break up.

I loved the flexibility of the Lip & Cheek products. The colors were also earthy, with a subtle payout, the kind of thing I love now that I’m over 60 and prefer not to look like a clown. The lip balm is nice too, though not particularly luxurious. It’s kinda a good base for the other lip products. I also bought the collapsible lip pencil, because it was acclaimed to be pretty awesome. It IS cool. But, who really needs a lip pencil? Then, you gotta clean it after a few uses. Not my cup of tea.

The Brow BFF 3 tool combo (eye brow pencil, brush and gel) are super wonderful. My only thought is, does it really need to be that long? This is a case of bigger is NOT always better, especially if you add on the Subtl make-up bag to your check out cart, which is just small enough to make fitting it in side a bit tough.

I also added on the collapsible brush in the metal case, which keeps any powdery fall out out of the inside of your bag or purse. The stacks also have little hidden stacks that have a mirror, a make-up brush, a sponge. Super nice to have in the car, on the plane, to keep your fingies nice and clean.

What I wouldn’t order again:

Really only one product….I bought two of the concealers. (Sometimes a blend is just the thing I need to cover up my thin skin under eye area.) But….for older skin like mine, these concealers were made for younger faces, with an oily-ish quality. I might of loved them in my 20’s. But on older skin, it gets super chalky and emphasizes my wrinkles. So for me, that’s a no.

Conclusion:

As the title indicates, these products are the make-up product version of a quickie, not the great love affair of your life. Would I buy it again? I can’t say that I would. But, I will thoroughly enjoy using them and carting them around, without too much concern for losing them, dropping them, or breaking them. I shouldn’t say that really, cause these products were NOT cheap…..the story of my Tik Tok purchases, I guess. But, if I had it to do over again, I might next time save those dollars and head to Nordstrom’s make-up counter, try stuff out and get what I want.

Heh, did I just learn a life lesson? The only succor is I went through this so you don’t have to. My advice is, save your dollars for Chanel.

Tootle-loo,

Ms. Sassy Pants

(Yes, I’m a Ms. now, cause I think it’s time finally, in my 60’s, to de-centralize men from my life. The younger generation really gets this. Ah well, better late than never…so, like the song says, “sisters are doing it for themselves.”)

  2. TikTok Shop is the devil’s work. I have managed to resist so far, but I have certainly been tempted. It helps when you have Zero Space for One More Thing…and shipping to The Ends of the Earth is ridiculously expensive.

Well done on the MS.” As you said, Better Late Than Never.
